Words Save Lives: Organ Donation Week 2018

This Organ Donation Week 03 – 09 September 2018, let’s revisit our conversations about organ donation.

Mum, Lisa Mallett shared the message below for the family who chose to give their child’s heart as a heart donor to save Lisa’s daughter Esme’s life:

‘Even if I had all the time in the world and all the words in the world, I could never truly thank them enough…’

Esme was born with aortic stenosis, a congenital heart condition that restricts blood flow due to the narrowing of the aorta.

  • ‘Lisa Mallett , 36, from Reading, lost her baby daughter Jadene 16 years ago.
  • She and partner Kevin made the selfless decision to donate Jadene’s heart.
  • Sixteen years later, their younger daughter Esme was in need of a donor herself.
  • Their kindness was repaid just before Esme’s fourth birthday with transplant.’

Millions of people are already on the NHS Organ Donor Register.

This organ donation week join them today and share your donation decision with your family.
