Pulse Oximetry Pilot: Phase Two

PULSE OX PIC 2The second phase of the pulse oximetry pilot commenced on 1st July 2015 with all pilot trusts aligning to the Newborn Pulse Oximetry Screening Pathway and Group B trusts that had not yet previously performed pulse oximetry commencing pulse oximetry screening.

The Children’s Heart Federation has heard that the second phase of the pilot is progressing well and that a baby was recently examined for Transposition of the Great Arteries after having their pulse oximetry screening.

CHF will continue to keep heart parents and member groups updated
about the pulse oximetry pilot and how it is already having a positive impact regarding diagnosis.

The ‘top team’ structure within NIPE was updated during late summer and may be viewed via the Public Health England (PHE) website.
