Hi! I’m Charlie and I have Focal Atrial Tachycardia, a defect in my heart’s electrical system causing an irregular heartbeat. Untreated, my heart goes out of rhythm multiple times a day. It’s a very annoying (benign) condition.

Having a quirky heart meant I learnt to work with my body. Professionally, I’ve collaborated with amazing people from around the world including scientists at the Milner Centre for Evolution and primary school children (OpenSpace UK).

My heart has slowed me down but not held me back.

My best advice is be open and ask for adjustments at University or work. Most people are super supportive and the ones that aren’t you wouldn’t want to work with anyway.
