Sarah's Story

Sarah’s Journey: Overcoming a Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD) and Thriving

Our journey with Sarah took an unexpected turn when, at just three weeks old, we learned she had a large Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD). This condition caused her breathing to be abnormally high, which meant many trips back and forth to the hospital.

Initially, we were being seen at Wishaw General Hospital. However, when Sarah reached around 3 ½ to 4 months old, we were referred to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, where doctors decided that surgery was the best course of action.

The surgery itself went smoothly, and Sarah was discharged from the hospital within five days withy no complications, and we were able to take our little girl home.

Since the surgery, Sarah has truly thrived. She has been hitting all of her developmental milestones. We are incredibly grateful to the surgeons, nurses, and the entire medical team who worked so hard to make sure Sarah’s surgery was a success. We can never thank them enough for everything they’ve done for our little girl.
