Introducing our fundraising star Anthony Birch:
Anthony was born with congenital heart disease (V.S.D) and was recently admitted into the care of St. Thomas’ Hospital in London were he was diagnosed with a serious; and and at the time life threatening disease called endocarditis (infection of the lining in the heart).
During his two month stay in hospital he felt how important it is to help people with similar problems and to improve awareness about CHD.
Anthony said: “I put the event on raise awareness and show support The Children’s Heart Federation and all their amazing hard work and the difference they make to children with congenital or acquired heart disease and their families in the UK.”
With this in mind Anthony organised a event called Music for the Heart to raise awareness and much needed funds for CHF. The event which took place at The Penny Theatre in Canterbury (Kent) was attended by over two-hundred music fans and featured up-and-coming artists and musicians from all over the South East including: Libi, High Tide, Lala Bee, Zoey K Bradley, MC Solomon, TRUTH, Humble Pious, Mark From the Zoo and Crew, DJ Buttaphingaz, DJ Race, Rob AC and Leg Oman! The event had something for everyone, covering a range of genres including: acoustic pieces, hip-hop, scratch DJs and electronic.
The entry price included a raffle with prizes donated by local businesses with the draw itself featuring Anthony who promoted the work of CHF during the draw.
The event was much enjoyed by all and the Penny Theatre who provided the venue were so happy with the success of the event that they would be happy to make this popular venue available for future events which Anthony has planned. Following the success of the event Anthony plans to organise three such events a year.
This type of event is highly competitive and difficult to organise and our thanks and appreciation goes out to Anthony who organised and managed the event as well as they myriad of artists, musicians and local businesses who helped to make this event a roaring success!
